What we have been doing for you, your Ward and the City
  • Active involvement in the community

  • Engagement with issues that matter

  • Supporting the Ward's shops, restaurants and businesses

  • Working with residents and reporting their concerns

  • Monitoring Ward works and construction progress

  • Representing constituents at Corporation meetings and events

Engagement with local issues
  • We went to see this valuable iniciative in action run by The City of London Police, it brings together agencies such NHS workers and charities to enhance safety and security across the Square Mile, especially in relation to the night-time economy.

  • Having taken on board constituents' concerns, the City will now seize dockless bike that pose an immediate danger, under statutory powers of the Highways Act 1980.

  • As part of our ongoing work with various stakeholders on the issues of homelessness and rough sleeping in the Ward, we attended a business breakfast hosted by Fleet Street Quarter and ThamesReach.

  • At the Court of Common Council in June, we spoke on behalf of City residents in support of Ward Alderwoman Martha Grekos' motion calling for the use of the Corporation's City's Estate fund to accelerate the renovation of its dilapidated social housing estates. The original motion was amended to call for "all [funding] options" to be considered. The ammended vesion was put to a vote and was carried. We will continue to hold the Corporation to account on this matter.

  • The Blackfriars Bridge foreshore site on the Thames is now complete and open with access to the Bazalgette Embankment and Thames Pathway.

  • The Salisbury Square development continues, with windows now having been installed. The topping out ceremony took place a few weeks ago. However, we have recently had it confirmed that the new completion date is February 2027.

  • On the North side of Fleet Street, the old Daily Telegraph building (Daniel House) and Peterborough Court campus are close to completion. Much of the 270,000 square feet of Grade A office space in the mixed-use building is already let.

  • The work to retrofit 65 Fleet Street with 850 student rooms and cultural space is on-going. The target for completion is the 2028/2029 academic year. The development will include public access to the 13th-century remains of Whitefriars Crypt and refurbishment and extension of the Grade II-listed Tipperary pub.

  • The CoL Corporation and Fleet Street Quarter BID have announced the appointment of Bradley-Hole Schoenaich Landscape (BHSLA) as lead designer for the Transforming Fleet Street project. The public consultation on the designs will take place this spring.

  • Harmsworth House on Bouverie Street is due to be developed into a 221-bed aparthotel with work starting in 2026.

  • The owners of the former Daily Express building at 120 Fleet Street are looking at options, with developer Core maintaining site safety. The Fleet Street Quarter BID team, with our support, has submitted a bid for funding to “green” the black hoarding  currently surrounding the site. The Fleet Street side is to be completed by early March and the Poppins Court side is due to complete the project on the week commencing 20th April.
